Practice Area: Litigation - General (consumer), Job Type: Attorney, Firm Type: Law Firm, Experience: 1 Years, A law firm is seeking a Trial Attorney for their Concord, CA office.Job Overview:The Trial Attorney will be responsible for litigating unlawful detainer actions in California state courts on behalf of property owners and managers. They will provide legal advice, prepare trial materials and witnesses, respond to client inquiries, and ensure all pre-trial motions and discovery documents are prepared. Additionally, the attorney will assist with other landlord-tenant matters and must be willing to spend multiple days per week in court.Duties:Litigate unlawful detainer actions, including trial preparation and witness coordinationProvide legal advice through phone consultations, analyzing facts and issues for client counselingRespond to client questions and concerns to foster client retention and business growthCollaborate with legal staff to prepare pre-trial motions, pleadings, and discovery documentsDraft various documents such as letters, stipulations, and surrender agreements as per client requirementsPropound and respond to discovery, depositions, and motions; prepare trial briefsAssist with other landlord-tenant matters and provide consultations as neededRequirements:Juris Doctor (J.D.) degree and active California Bar licenseMinimum of 1 year of trial experienceStrong oral advocacy skillsKnowledge of trial procedure and evidence codeAbility to communicate effectively with individuals from diverse backgroundsWillingness to spend multiple days per week in courtFamiliarity with unlawful detainer lawJury trial experience preferredExperience or contact within the rental housing industry is a plusEducation and Certifications:Juris Doctor (J.D.) degreeActive California Bar licenseSkills:Strong oral advocacyLegal research and writingCase managementCommunication and interpersonal skillsAttention to detailTime management and organizationBenefits Offered:The firm provides a comprehensive compensation package that includes medical, dental, vision, life, and disability insurance, a 401(k), paid vacation, and sick time.
