We're excited that you are interested in joining our team! About the position: We are looking to hire a machine operator for our surface machines for our first shift. The Surface Machine Operator runs up to three different machines - HOMAG, IMA, and MAW Brands of CNC Routers. These machines primarily drill and groove Birch Plywood parts for final production. This operator should have a keen eye for quality and be familiar with the machines' safety features and guidelines. The position would involve the upkeep and maintenance of the entire surface machines' area. The operator will also coordinate and work closely with the upcoming shift to determine any needs that may arise regarding changeover. Essential Functions: Start up and shut down of the machine. Change blades and drill bits, reorder tooling, and send dull tools out for sharpening. Communicate with QA to review parts or quality issues. Understand the self-lubricating mechanism on the machine. Conduct basic maintenance on the Surface Machines Familiar with all emergency shut offs and stops/resets. Understand and follow the enhanced dispatch list. Enter ECO's (internal system to request changes) and put in maintenance requests. Presence in the workplace is an essential function of this job. First shift hours are typically from 7:00am - 3:30pm Monday-Friday Second shift hours are typically from 3:30pm - 12:00am, Monday - Friday Additional Functions: May be responsible for training others on the machines' operation. Other duties as assigned. Qualifications: Must be able to speak, read, and write the English language for safety purposes in an understandable manner. Mechanical aptitude. Excellent understanding of the metric system as well as the metric tools necessary to operate the machine. Excellent communication skills required to ensure communication between shifts. Ability to read CAD drawing/blueprints. Prior CNC experience preferred. Working Conditions: Our production environment is typical for wood manufacturing and includes a variety of environmental elements including loud noise, dust, and aromas. While this is an indoor operation, temperatures will vary with the outdoor temperature and some areas of the shop may be hot or cold. Worker may be subject to vibration. Worker is subject to moving mechanical parts, moving vehicles and/or heat. Physical Requirements: Production positions are physically demanding and may be strenuous. They are standing positions and include frequent walking, lifting and carrying of up to 50 pounds. There are a lot of body movements, including extending arms, grasping with hands, and flexing of wrists. There may be a lot of bending and twisting. Each position requires ongoing rotations of movements and workers must have the physicality to perform the essential functions. Ability to lift up to 50 lbs. and push or pull up to 150 lbs.
