Who Are We: The New Orleans JCC is a state-of-the-art fitness center and pool, a New Orleans early childhood education leader, a fun-filled summer day camp, and so much more. It is a place for adults to take an exercise class, an art class, or a dance class. A place for children and teens to experience learning through enrichment classes, sports leagues, family activities, and summer camps. The JCC is built on Jewish values but is welcome to everyone.The mission of the New Orleans Jewish Community Center is to promote and ensure the well-being of our Jewish community and to instill an understanding of Judaism and its heritage by providing a center where all can enjoy, learn, experience, and share in quality activities in a Jewish environment. The Senior Fitness Instructor will conduct safe and effective group fitness classes for JCC senior adult members. The instructor will show professionalism consistently. Essentials for this position require designing creative class routines, motivating the class participants, and demonstrating exercise modifications. Successful candidates must possess an outgoing and engaging personality. What You'll Do: Have a broad range of experience, including working with seniors. Able to create comprehensive training programs built around clients' needs and goals. Strong awareness of anatomy and biomechanics. Desire to build a successful business in an entrepreneurial environment. Possess excellent interpersonal communication skills. Maintains logs of class attendance for classes taught. Teaches classes in a fun, safe, and challenging manner. Classes must be designed to provide an entertaining exercise program. Show movement modifications and conduct a safe and effective class. Inspects the studio to ensure the lighting, temperature, sound system, and equipment are all in top working condition. Reports problems and takes appropriate action. Perks! Certification by a nationally recognized organization and accredited by IHRSA is required. Senior fitness certification is highly preferred. Current CPR certification and basic first aid training are required.
