Date Posted: 01/03/2024 Closing Date: 03/04/2024, 11:59PM ET Req ID: 35286 Job Category: Faculty - Tenure Stream (continuing) Faculty/Division: Temerty Faculty of Medicine Department: Dept of Physiology Campus: St. George (Downtown Toronto) Description: The Department of Physiology, Faculty of Medicine at the University of Toronto invites applications for a full-time tenure - stream appointment in the area of Autonomic Control of Cardiovascular Function. The appointment will be at the rank of Associate Professor or Professor. The successful candidate may also be eligible to be named The Ted Rogers Chair in Cardiovascular Systems Biology (details below). The expected start date is July 1, 2024. We seek an outstanding individual to lead an innovative program that employs novel methods, models, and techniques to understand the autonomic regulation of cardiovascular function in health and disease. The successful candidate would be a globally recognized expert in autonomic cardiovascular control in the context of neurological conditions and the use of this knowledge to develop new therapeutics. The successful candidate would utilize clinical and preclinical research models (i. e. humans, rats, and mice) in conjunction with a wide array of novel research techniques such as: population-level analyses, integrated clinical and preclinical cardiovascular backssments, computational biology, neurostimulation (electrical, optical), virally-mediated neuro-tracing, and biomedical engineering. The successful candidate will have an international reputation with recognized scholarship and demonstrated excellence in research in systems biology and/or data science with applications to cardiovascular biology, medicine, and/or health outcomes. Applicants must have a Ph D degree in physiology, computational biology, bioinformatics, or another relevant field, with demonstrated excellence in research and teaching.
