Hatch continues to expand its Smart Grid team advising utilities on the impacts of grid modernization, digital utility solutions, electrification, advanced grid operations, microgrids, and distribution system design. The increased electrification of transportation and heating solutions is creating uncertainty in utility planning and will require changes to system design, capital planning, protection & control, monitoring, and solutions to overcome other operational challenges. Concurrently, fleet, municipal, transit, and rail vehicles are also electrifying requiring additional planning & design, creative solutions to manage feeder and grid-level demand, and likely new business models.
