The organization also delivers some province-wide health services and supports centralized administrative and business functions for Manitoba health organizations. Position Overview A fully capable, knowledgeable, and experienced biomedical engineering technologist, the incumbent works independently under minimal supervision. He/she is responsible for daily technical support activities related to equipment and devices used within clinical, allied health, and/or support service departments that are the technologist's designated areas of responsibility. The individual may also be assigned responsibility outside his/her normally designated areas of responsibility. The incumbent is responsible for the repair, performance assurance, preventive maintenance, and other technical work including: incoming inspection of equipment; broad-based clinical technical support of assigned hospital departments; equipment modification; instrument development; risk management; electrical safety activities; teaching medical and nursing staff; evaluation of equipment; product acquisition; coordination of outside contractors, vendors, agencies and other departments; carrying out Special Service Programs; administrative duties; and CE staff development.
